In 2017/18 there were a total of about 68,000 AEB enrolments of which the statutory entitlements of Maths enrolments accounted for 12% and English (11%), with ESOL a further 19%.

There were just under 37,000 AEB learners resident within the WMCA area of which 45% were unemployed learners, a further 23% were learners out of work but not looking for work and just under 30% in paid employment.
