In 2017/18 Apprenticeship spend accounted for just over £20 million of which 24% was accounted for by learners living within Birmingham, 22% by Dudley residents, Sandwell (15%) and 10% in relation to Walsall, Wolverhampton and Coventry respectively.

57% was accounted for by learners living within the Black Country LEP area, 30% within Birmingham and Solihull LEP and the remainder within Coventry and Warwickshire LEP area.

34% related to Level 2 enrolments, 39% to level 3 enrolments, with just under 10% level 4 enrolments (18% were unknown).

Particular concentrations of Apprenticeship spend is evident in relation to a number of wards, particularly in Dudley, Sandwell and Coventry.

Engineering and Building and Construction were the two sectors accounting for the largest spend.
