Programme Descriptions and Funding Details

1	English and maths, up to and including level 2	Where the resident has not previously achieved GCSE grade C/ level 4 or the course will be fully funded through your local college
1	Essential Digital Skills Qualifications	These are available for residents fully funded through your local college for digital qualifications up to and including level 1
1	Entry and Level 1 general, vocational, life skills and employability skills qualifications	These are available for residents fully funded through your local college and includes entry or level one provision for learners who aim to progress to a full level 2
1	English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)	These qualifications are available for residents fully funded through your local college learning up to and including level 2
2	Sector Work-based Academy Programmes (SWAPs)	Designed to help meet employers’ immediate and future skills gaps and equip clients to gain employment in the jobs that are vacant. SWAPs typically last up to 6 weeks and contain three main components to help your clients back to work: – pre-employment training – work experience placements – a guaranteed job interview or help with an employer’s recruitment process
2	Sector Gateways (SG)	These are similar to SWAPs by design but are usually less than 6-week programmes typically short and sharp training that is bespoke to roles across a range of industries. These programmes are designed to focus on the key skills required to secure the job role and are aligned to job vacancies. They typically include: – Occupationally specific training – Job interview at the end of the programme – Work experience is an optional element of a SG programme to support individuals into work
2	Construction Gateways (CG)	These are Sector Gateways that have been specifically designed to enable residents to enter employment in a range of construction-based occupations by gaining industry certification including CSCS, CPCS or equivalent industry standards to ensure that on completion the resident holds an appropriate industry accredited card to get onto a construction site.
2	Skills Bootcamp Programmes (SBPs)	Skills Bootcamps Programmes are developed in partnership with local employers to help fill professional and technical skills gaps and local vacancies that are typically above entry level. They are short courses of up to 16 weeks and are designed to be flexible, so residents can fast-track their skills on their own terms, fitting learning around family or other commitments. The programme is typically 11 – 16-week full-time (minimum of 25 GLH per week). They typically include: – A guaranteed job interview for a genuine vacancy – Clear and structured support in securing employment both during the bootcamp and upon completion
3	Apprenticeships	Apprenticeships are a great way for residents who are not currently in employment to enter many different industries. They offer a structured training programmes which gives people a chance to work (literally) towards a qualification. People earn while they learn. No student loans, no tuition fees, and, hopefully, no debt. Apprentices are paid by the employer, and the Apprenticeship Levy will cover the cost of the training. There are over 400 different types of apprenticeships so there’s something for everyone.
4	Free Courses for Jobs (FCFJ)	These are available for residents fully funded through your local college if it is the residents first full level 3 or the resident has previously achieved a full level 3 or above and the required qualification is on the Level 3 free courses for jobs (FCFJ) list, or the local flexibilities list agreed with WMCA.

Full Level 2 general and vocational qualifications (Excluding English and maths)	Not included in this prospectus: There is a wide range of vocational programmes at level 2. These are available for residents fully funded through your local college including if the resident has already achieved a first full level 2 or above
Level 3 – not on list	If the resident does not meet the eligibility criteria for FCFJ and has previously achieved a full level 3 or above, and the additional level 3 does not appear on the FCFJ or WMCA Flexibilities list, they can access loan funding
Full Level 4 general and vocational qualifications	These may be available for residents fully funded through your local college if they are on the WMCA approved flexibility list, alternatively residents can access loan funding if the qualifications are not available through the local flexibilities.
