South Staffordshire College opens new £33 million flagship college in Tamworth

South Staffordshire College has officially opened its brand-new £33 million college in the heart of Tamworth town centre marking a transformative moment for education and skills development in the region.

Strategically located in the heart of Tamworth town centre, the new Tamworth College is designed to meet the evolving needs of learners, employers, and the wider community. It offers cutting-edge facilities for technical and vocational education, including specialist spaces for digital, health, construction, electrical and engineering, motor vehicle, hair and beauty, catering and travel – aligned with regional priorities and future workforce demands.

Chief Executive and Principal Claire Boliver of South Staffordshire College said “The new college is more than a building – it’s a bold investment in the future of Tamworth and the wider region. We’ve created a space where ambition meets opportunity, and where learners of all ages can gain the skills, they need to thrive in a fast-changing economy”.

The new Tamworth College is part of South Staffordshire Colleges wider commitment to lifelong learning and local impact. It will support the delivery of full and part time courses, T Levels, apprenticeships, adult education, and employer-led training, helping to close skills gaps and boost economic growth.

South Staffordshire College continues to work collaboratively with regional partners, including the West Midlands Combined Authority, to ensure its provision supports key sectors such as health, construction, digital, and sustainability.
