College Overview
Dudley College of Technology is situated in Dudley Borough in the West Midlands. The college traces its roots back to 1862 when the Dudley Public Hall and Mechanics Institute was first built. In 1896 the institution became Dudley Technical School, renamed the Dudley Technical College in 1928. With 13 campuses clustered in Dudley town centre (the Dudley Learning Quarter) and Brierley Hill (the Brierley Hill Learning Quarter) the college predominantly serves the communities of Dudley, Sandwell and Wolverhampton. The college’s apprenticeship provision supports employers across the West Midlands region. The college supports young people on both technical programmes, including the introduction of T Levels in September 2020, and on A Levels, through Dudley Sixth. The college is one of the largest national providers of apprenticeships and is renowned for its engineering and advanced manufacturing programmes. The college provides a substantial range adult learning programmes from entry into employment through to technical updating. The college lead on the development of The Black Country & Marches Institute of Technology which opened in a major new build in Dudley in September 2021. The college sponsors Dudley Academies Trust comprising two primary and four secondary schools located close to the college’s main site in Dudley.
