City of Wolverhampton College

City of Wolverhampton College is number one in the West Midlands for student achievement rates*, was graded ‘good’ by Ofsted in January 2023, and announced as a Technical Excellence College for Advanced Manufacturing (AMTEC) in April 2026,

Formed in September 1999 from the merger of Wulfrun College and Bilston Community College, it adopted its current name after Wolverhampton gained city status in December 2000.

The college offers a diverse range of courses for school leavers and adult learners, with qualifications from entry level to university-level HNCs, HNDs and HTQs, and foundation degrees in partnership with The University of Wolverhampton.

It also provides a comprehensive apprenticeship programme – working with key local and national employers such as Bentley, Budweiser and Valeo – ‘preparation for work’ schemes to enhance employability skills, and an expanding ‘into employment’ programme to help individuals upskill and retrain in local priority sectors.

The college has two main sites – a new four-storey state-of-the-art building in the City Learning Quarter (CLQ), in Wolverhampton city centre, which opened in November 2025, and a recently expanded campus on Wellington Road, in Bilston – as well as a specialist Polymer Training and Innovation Centre in Telford

The CLQ campus boasts industry-standard science labs, digital areas, hair and beauty salons, a mock-up hospital ward, and professional broadcast, music, photography and performing arts studios; while the Wellington Road campus features a new £8.1 million Advanced Technology and Automotive Centre for engineering and automotive studies, construction centre with workshops for individual trades, outdoor groundworks training site, professional bakery kitchen and shop, sports centre and early years training nursery.
